Rub and Tug

Rub and Tug is an American crime movie announced by the director Rupert Sanders. According to the sources, the film is based on the life of a mysterious Dante “Tex” Gill who happened to run various massage parlors and involved in different sex rackets in Pittsburgh.

Gill had a hidden sexual image and was born as Lois Jean Gill who took the identity of a man and probably underwent initial sexual change medical procedures. The story belongs to 1970s when Gill’s underground business received a great hike and he became a popular name.

The plot sounds interesting still Scarlett Johansson is being trolled all over on the social media as according to her fans the role should be played by a Trans.

Aggressive reply by Scarlett Johansson

On Twitter, there was a great trolling by Scarlett’s critics and fans on her decision

Scarlett Johansson has played many impactful and influential characters in her movies. The bold actress is never shy to put her stand and that’s the reason her representative forwarded a statement –

“Tell them that they can be directed to Jeffrey Tambor, Jared Leto and Felicity Huffman’s reps for comment.”
The reply was a strong suggestion by the Scarlett Johansson’s rep to the critics indicating that there have been many instances where the audiences appreciated films and T.V. series with the similar topics.

History of Hollywood with Sex-change and Trans topics.

Some of the examples of the films matching the genre are Dallas Buyers Club, Boys don’t cry, Transparent series and Transamerica. The transition for a transgender and male playing a woman and the vice versa has been challenging, however, we have witnessed champs like Hilary Swank, who transformed her identity for the film Boys don’t cry.

In 1999, Hilary also won an Academy Award for the Best Actress for the same film. In 1975, Al Pacino’s Dog Day Afternoon showed an unconventional plot where the protagonist robbed a bank for his partner’s sex change treatment.

The transgender topics have come to Hollywood and international cinema many times however it was the real zeal of the directors which helped them to succeed.

Scarlett Johansson’s Ghost in the shell

Rupert Sanders made his last film Ghost in the shell with Scarlett Johansson and the film received an average response by the critics. The film was an action Sci-fi and made in Japanese and English. The concept was good however it came out as an underplayed drama. Probably the audience and Scarlett’s fan are not ready for a trans adaptation and she should accept more conventional yet extraordinary roles like Lost in transition.
